Mario Tricoci’s brand is one of the most recognized and respected in the whole Chicagoland Area. Tricoci Hair Salons were established in the mid 1970’s and the collaboration between the stylist and BVM can be traced back to their very start.

Ben Mammina first became acquainted with Mario when he was the design architect and lead project manager for his very first salon, in Woodfield Mall, back in 1977.

“Up until that time, hair salons were not in place in regional malls, this was practically unheard of. Mario was a visionary in that sense and I was happy to help him bring that vision to life.” BM

In 1978, Tricoci contacted Mammina again, to design a small salon in Schaumburg, Illinois. Mario became his trusted client in a long and profitable relationship in which BVM designed 18 out of the 18 hair salons owned by Tricoci.

Working with existing structures always brings challenges like the one faced for the Vernon Hills location. This design had to mimic the big curve already featured along the front of the building.
